ONGIARA CLINIC
The Ongiara Clinic will open in September 2010 at 85 Jarvis Street, Fort Erie (the home of Ongiara College of Acupuncture and Moxibustion), staffed by clinical year students completing their 3 year professional Diploma program under close faculty supervision.
Because Ongiara clinic will serve the educational needs of students as well as providing a public health service, it will only charge a nominal fee to patients, enabling the local community to have greater access to affordable acupuncture and allied treatments. Treatment provided will be of the highest standard, as all students are supervised by a team of highly experienced faculty members. Ongiara faculty are senior acupuncture practitioners who initially graduated from accredited institutions in Canada, the US or the UK and who are licensed to practice in their home country.
Complementary medical facilities and services in the Fort Erie/Niagara/Buffalo areas are in short supply. Acupuncture clinics in the Buffalo region currently charge in the region of $125 US for the initial diagnosis and $75 US per subsequent treatment. Acupuncture or massage therapy clinics in Southeastern Ontario currently charge between $55-75 CAD. The fee at Ongiara Clinic will be in the region of $15-20 CAD (or equivalent, given the clinic does not start until September 2010).
Ongiara College will discuss the provision of specialized health programs with local community and special interest groups (e.g. acupuncture for the elderly, pregnant women, mothers and toddlers, newly arrived immigrants etc. and for substance abuse recovery, infertility, trauma etcetera).
Clinic Location: Ongiara Clinic, 85 Jarvis Street, Fort Erie, Ontario, L2A 2S3 (from September 2010).
